We rolled into Cedar Flats Campground just before sunset on Tuesday after an easy drive and immediately felt like we picked the right spot. Kelly handled the check-in while I backed the trailer into Site 3, which turned out to be surprisingly level for a wooded campground. The cedar trees gave the site a quiet, tucked-away feel without making it too dark, and there was just enough space between neighbors that we didn’t feel packed in. We ended the evening sitting outside with a small fire going and listened to the wind moving through the trees for a couple hours before turning in. Wednesday ended up being one of those camping days where nothing dramatic happened, but everything just worked. Morning coffee outside turned into a long walk around the campground where we saw a few deer wanding through an empty site. The rest of the afternoon was spent relaxing under the awning while Kelly read and I tinkered with a few things on the trailer. The campground itself felt thoughtfully laid out- easy roads to navigate, decent spacing between sites, and clean bathhouses that actually stayed clean throughout the day. Cell service was usable enough for a quick check-in back home, but not strong enough to tempt either of us into scrolling all afternoon, which honestly improved the trip. One thing we both kept commenting on was how calm the entire place felt after dark. No generators humming late into the night, no bright flood lights from neighboring rigs, and nobody treating the campground like a parking lot party. By the second night we had already started talking about coming back in the fall when the weather cools down and the trees start changing color. Kelly said it might be one of the few campgrounds we’ve stayed at where the campground atmosphere itself was just as memorable as the campsite. Site 3 was a 4.6 for us, which feels spot on. Hookups would have been nice, but we had enough sun for the solar to keep up. Great site that we'd come to again.
